RockOn is a creative music workshop concept facilitated by Brisbane-based music teacher, composer and entertainer Melinda Wells. Melinda offers a unique opportunity to under 18’s who would like to discover their talents in creating and performing their own original music, independently or in collaboration with others. The program gives participants the opportunity to work with a professional composer, be exposed to the art of writing music, collaborating with other like-minded students finishing with a performance of their own original work. It’s designed to be an inspirational, educational, FUN experience!
Melinda J Wells is a professional entertainer, music teacher and parent who has worked with children and adults in the music industry for over ten years.

Melinda performs regularly around Brisbane and the Gold Coast and is currently writing her third independent album of adult contemporary music, covering several genres.
Melinda has written more than 150 original songs, released two independent CD’s and been a professional entertainer for most of her life in many different arenas. Melinda J Wells Music Studio was established by Melinda over three years ago and she has been teaching guitar, song-writing and performance to local school children and adults with fantastic results.
Melinda’s uniquely written music teaching programs centre on a fun, interactive style has made her a very popular teacher able to easily motivate and excite our musicians of the future.
Song-writing from a young age, Melinda found an outlet for the many trials and tribulations of her young life through writing original music and she continued to write all through her life, especially during difficult times. Melinda sees this program offering a musical alternative for creative children and teenagers who could easily turn to less favourable outlets to vent their frustrations. Whilst it is the aim of this program to finish with an on-stage performance, not all musically creative individuals have the desire to perform publicly.
The first objective of this program is to simply use the gift of creativity as an emotional outlet for students on the program with the wonderful outcome of having some form of original composition created. Also, being in a learning environment with a spirited, enthusiastic and positive teacher who can relate to their level, every student on the program will have their learning capabilities enhanced by the experience (as has been documented through many studies). Just as important, new and lasting friendships will be formed when students with similar interests are brought together in workshop settings, and as an added bonus, students will have the opportunity to collaborate with their new friends to create exciting musical partnerships.
For the majority of students participating, the passion for performing their music live on stage will be a natural outlet for their creativity, so the end-of-program concert is the ideal finale to such a fun and fulfilling experience. Every student will have the opportunity to perform on the final day but no-one will be forced to do so should they feel it too difficult a thing to do. Great care and caution is used in this area but it is also one of the outcomes to give budding composers the confidence to let others hear their music. Be assured that care will be taken to ensure everyone has the best possible time and benefit from this program.
